This is why we pray. Jesus told us to love our enemies, bless and pray for them (Matthew 5:44). We pray for those in authority over us so that we can lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty (I Timothy 2:1-2). This is how we express our love to God and to our fellow man. This is also required to fulfill the divine destiny for our lives (I Timothy 1:18).
